Fishing

Around Skibotn there are opportunities to try your luck at fishing, either on the sea, in the river or on a lake. You can read more about fishing in the Lyngenfjord region here.

Sea Fishing

In the fjord you can fish for free without a fishing licence. You can fish from shore or from a boat, but you are not allowed to use nets. There is plenty of cod in the fjord, but it is also possible to catch pollock, haddock and halibut. Read more about sea fishing rules here

River Fishing

The Skibotn River is closed due to rotenone treatment and will be opened in 2023 at the earliest.

To fish in the Skibot river, you need a fishing license and a paid fishing fee. You can buy a fishing license here at Strandbu Camping. Read more and pay the fishing fee at the Norwegian Environment Agency

In the Skibotn River you will find salmon, sea trout and char.
